seeds Starting seeds in a grow tent - do I need ventilation/exhaust?

Thought I'd give an update if anyone was interested in seeing the final set up. All seems to be going pretty well!!   It's a Vivosun 4x4 tent, Mars Hydro TSW2000 light, AC Infinity Cloudline 4" exhaust fan, and a Honeywell oscillating fan.   I have the exhaust fan set to pull air in through the...

seeds Starting seeds in a grow tent - do I need ventilation/exhaust?

Zero worry about ethylene build up here. These will be in the ground before I ever let them set any pods.   But as you said, maybe better to just do it. I'll order up a smaller fan in order to vent in fresh air along with some smaller fans to circulate around the plants. They seem pretty...

seeds Starting seeds in a grow tent - do I need ventilation/exhaust?

Thanks for all of the replies and additional insight!       Thanks for information. I'm not too concerned with temps. I keep my house pretty cool in the winter time, around 66º during the day. So a 10º bump in temps will be perfect.           Yeah, the fan I mention was simply to stiffen them...

seeds Starting seeds in a grow tent - do I need ventilation/exhaust?

Normally my seed starting area is my office, but as I'm still WFH, I can't have neon lights in the background of all of my Zoom meetings. So I've invested in a grow tent and an LED quantum board to hopefully keep things cooler (my current fluorescent lights get super warm).   Anyways, virtually...

    Best vendor for bells?

Same here. Have been really impressed with their seeds in general (other than the SRPs I got from them that weren't anything like SRPs).   But for sure the tomatoes I've gotten from them have literally all had 100% germination and grown true.

free FREE - Seeds of varieties that I won't grow

Haha - gotta love different palettes. I can't stand mushrooms and beets and other root veggies. They're too earthy for me!! :)

They've definitely been hotter than their non-chocolate brethren, but they seem to have a more "earthy" flavor to me that masks so much of the great sweet and citrus flavors that I love in these peppers.

free FREE - Seeds of varieties that I won't grow

I've found that in general I'm not the biggest fan of any of the "chocolate" varieties.    I've just run into the issue of so many peppers, not enough space, and too many varieties I want to try!

free FREE - Seeds of varieties that I won't grow

I have about 20 different pepper varieties that I've tried and they just aren't for me. Rather than throwing out the seeds, I'd like to send them to someone who will use them.   It's mostly a mix of hot to super hot peppers (Yellow Trinidad Scorpion, Aji Lemon Drop, Chocolate Scotch Bonnet...

Peppers wrinkling and getting soft on plant before ripening

Interesting perspective! Thanks for sharing.   I wouldn't say it started setting peppers any earlier than I normally start to get peppers, but maybe you're right. Plant just wasn't ready.   I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Something is eating my chilli plant!

I've had similar thing this year. I went out at night with UV light looking for caterpillars, didn't see anything. First time I've had that type of damage.    I agree with others. After further research, I concluded it was leaf cutters. The plants seem to be doing just great otherwise.   I'm...

Peppers wrinkling and getting soft on plant before ripening

I'd read they're fairly new so may not be that stable of a cross. But even in the variation of yours, they still look distinctly like SRP.    At first I thought I had something weird going on, but now I think I'm convinced that they're just not SRP. Maybe a lone seed from another plant ended...

Peppers wrinkling and getting soft on plant before ripening

Those a drop dead gorgeous!! Making me jealous.   At this point I'm wondering if what I'm growing aren't sugar rush peach peppers. Which would be a bummer as these came from a reputable company.

Peppers wrinkling and getting soft on plant before ripening

I'm growing Sugar Rush Peach peppers for the first time this year. The plant is doing great and setting lots of peppers. However, all the peppers are starting to wrinkle and get soft on the plant. The peppers are maximum maybe 5ish weeks old from when they set.   It's almost like they're getting...

    pests Aphid Apocalypse

I've dealt with them here in TX as well.   What has seemed to work pretty well for me is I'll put on some gloves and try to "wipe away" as many as I can see on the leaves by gently pinching and rubbing the leaves through my fingers to crush and kill the aphids. Smaller leaves, flower buds, etc I...

    lighting T5 Lights

I got the exact same light to start seedlings indoors this year. I too have liked it. My only knock is that Ive found it runs quite warm and the plants get pretty warm. I set up an oscillating fan which has helped. Plus itll also help toughen up the seedlings a little with some air movement...

pests Genetically modified insects (leafhoppers, whiteflies, and aphids)

I agree that things like allowing more pesticides to be sprayed may not be best use and have given bad rap. Couple that with the shady business practices of big-ag like Monsanto, and you're absolutely correct.   But I think many would also be blanket anti-gmo regardless of the genes being...

Speaking of tomatoes: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-06915-y   Problem is that not everyone has access to land to have a garden, etc. But everyone can agree store bought tomatoes (and other fruits/veggies) suck. Science to the rescue!
