    Your top five peppers

    1.  Khun Rabhi Hybrid Thai (Best Thai variety I've grown, and I've grown a lot) 2.  Fatali (Best flavor and heat of the non-Hab Chinenses) 3.  MoA Scotch Bonnet (Best looking and tasting Scotch Bonnet out there) 4.  7 Pot Brain Strain (For pure heat, primarily for making powder) 5.  Carolina...

    Bumps, lumps, stingers, and etc.

My Aji Limons had spikes this summer when the temperature was blazing. They, along with even my superhots, have "smoothed out" as the weather has cooled off. I think hotter temperatures stress the plants more, and when plants get stressed, they also tend to get hotter. Seems reasonable to relate...

If you could only grow ONE pepper what would it be?

I'm going to give a +1 for the Orange Thai. They have incredible flavor and just the right balance of heat, not to mention incredibly prolific. If I were exclusively making sauces and powders though, I would probably pick the Fatali.

    Trinidad douglah... red?

The douglahs I grew in the past had some of the the thinnest skin of any pepper I have ever grown. They would literally dry out by themselves on a table without molding just about as easily as my thai peppers. Yours looks like the skin is a bit thicker, so my vote is for a cross.

    hp22b!

Pepperhead, if your last post was directly aimed at me, and I have to assume it was because you quoted me at the beginning, then it's misdirected. Perhaps you could reread my post and edit your response accordingly by taking my quote out. As far as the fiasco is concerned, it's coming from the...

    hp22b!

It seems like it would have made more sense to have official or semi-official proof (Guiness, HPLC test results from Winthrop University) before announcing to the world that they have the hottest pepper in the world, right? By no means do I think Guinness is the authority when it comes to proof...

    hp22b!

I have yet to see this "press release" and it's already past 1pm on the east coast. Wasn't it supposed to be out today? All that comes up on a google search is a couple of news articles with info we already know about from posts on this message board. I was expecting something in-depth test...

    hp22b!

On a lighter note (this thread has gotten kind of heavy), I was watching Ted's review of HP22B, and for some reason I decided to turn on closed captioning. It transcribes the audio on demand using voice recognition, and it's absolutely hilarious. There are tons of random one liners in there, and...

2012 7 Pot Primo & Brain Strain Goodness

I am using Sunshine Mix #4 in my fabric pots. I typically use Pro Mix BX, but they were out when I stocked up at the pot growers store earlier this year, and the guy working there also said the Sunshine mix was pretty much the same thing but with more perlite for better drainage. Couldn't be...

2012 7 Pot Primo & Brain Strain Goodness

Bad news everyone...my one and only 7 pot primo plant got snapped off at the base from a storm we had yesterday. I don't even have the heart to take a picture of it. Lost probably 25 gnarly pods that I was looking forward to. On the upside, a few branches below where it snapped survived, so I...

chinense genetics of the chocolate Bhut Jolokia?

I'm pretty sure Frontal Agritech (major supplier of all things bhut jolokia in India) found a chocolate/brown bhut jolokia growing in their fields as a natural variation. As for the yellow, I have never really seen or read anything that has convinced me it is not a cross of some sort. chocolate...

2012 7 Pot Primo & Brain Strain Goodness

Thanks for the kudos guys! Now that I think about it, that second pic of the 7 pot primo kind of reminds me of one of those "face huggers" from the Alien movies, haha. As for the root pouches my chinense plants are all in 5 gallons, and my thai chile plants are in 3 gallons. I am sold on those...

2012 7 Pot Primo & Brain Strain Goodness

I finally have some peppers ripening up! The 7 pot primo and brain strain are the only two super hots that grew true for me this year. My douglah that I saved seeds from last year turned out to be a cross, and my chocolate bhut I got in a trade turned out to be a red bhut (not exactly a crisis...
