    plant Mirasol?

Thanks RobStar, I agree my fruits are too narrow to be Mirasol. Mine are more like an upright cayenne type. I’ve had a look at Chile de Árbol and I think you’re right. Thank you for taking the time to help.

    plant Mirasol?

Hi all can anyone advise? I grew this plant from seed last season and it was sold to me as Mirasol. I’ve looked online and can’t decide if it is or not. Has anyone got any ideas or opinions as what it is?

    How to store chili?

As a general rule I freeze the green peppers whole in plastic bags and dry the red ones.   The reds are dried in a metal pot on top of a woodburning stove. This gets them properly dry so they grind down to a fine powder that keeps for ages.   The added bonus is the aroma of baked red peppers in...

    Question about composted chicken manure

I use the compacted chicken manure pellets that you have to assume has been well composted.   When you open the lid for the first time the smell is pretty bad so your stuff is probably okay.    I'm with millworkman though, go easy on it.

    Bumps on jalapeño pod?

To have it only on one pepper points to some sort of complicated genetic throwback disorder.   I'm gonna follow this to see if anyone knows for sure!

    Isolation Help

I wait until I have a plant with a couple of flowers just about to open. I tag the flower stem then cover the whole plant with a net curtain (very light an see through) which is supported by a cane which takes the weight of the curtain.   As soon as I see the pepper coming from behind the flower...

    Chilli Salt

The trick is to dry the chillies really well so that they crumble in your hand, this will stop the mix looking wet.   I put mine in a metal pot on top of a woodburning stove for a few weeks.   When really dry i put the peppers through a spice grinder and then add to salt.(I dont grind the salt) ...

    breeding cross pollinate

I find that if you 'tag' a few flowers that havent opened yet then cover the whole plant with a fine mesh so no pollinating insects can get in, that does the trick. As soon as you see the fruit coming from behind the tagged flowers then you know the seeds from those fruit will be true to the...

Where have all the Ladybirds gone?

I'll have a stab at answering that if I may.   When we have had a plentiful supply they are usually found wherever the adults are BUT they seem more secretive and due to their colouring are a lot harder to see AND they are more mobile so tend to get out of the way.   I know the adults are not...
