I need some greenhouse advise. I just put up a hobby greenhouse (Easygrow) that is 6'x12'. It has a auto vent and a manual vent. When the temp's are in the low 60's and the sun is out it gets to be 105 even with the two vents open (they are both on the roof). It also has a manual vent near the...
The package the bulbs came in say they are equivalent to a 60w incandescent bulb. So it would be like a 240w incandescent bulb. It seems very bright and also puts out a lot of heat. BTW (nmorris279)I lived in Riverside for about 35 years before moving to Alabama.
I have a metal rack with a 36" x 18" shelf that I am planning to place new seedlings on under a light. Does anyone know how many lights I would need for one shelf? Right now I have 4 CFL bulbs that are Natural Daylight type 13W 5000k. Is that too many or not enough?

This is my first year to order seeds so I know nothing about anything. I have seeds from Pepper Joe, and Peppermania but I also ordered from www.genericseeds.com and the seeds were less expensive and each pack had from 130 to 150 seeds. Does anyone know anything about this site?
Thanks AJ for the plans. I am trying to figure it all out. Do you have any pic's of it completed? How do you attach the covering? How did you close up the two ends? Sorry for all the questions but now you have me thinking...
I am thinking about getting a small greenhouse the one attached is around $1500 at Costco. Does anyone know the best place to get a greenhouse? Is this one any good?

No we moved here about 4 years ago. Before that we lived in California. It was a little bit of a adjustment living here but we love it now. Where did you live in Alabama? I did a ancestry search and found out most of the people on my mother's side came from Alabama. My great-great grandfather...
I just tried the mason jar and it worked great. Thanks everyone for all the great ideas. I would have never known what my old blender could do. I think I will try removing the seeds next time.
The peppers are Serrano and Cayenne that have been cut in half and dried in a food dehydrator. When they come out they are like little hard sticks that are hard to grind down in the dryer.
What is the best way to make powder out of my dried peppers? I tried a mortar and pestle and the powder was so fine it floated all over the room. So I tried a coffee grinder and it worked pretty good but not fine enough to go out a pepper shaker. Would really appreciate any other methods.
That's terrible. What do you do with all those peppers when we don't have tornado's? I am hoping to have a lot next year but not sure what I will do with them all. I am finding many new ways to enjoy them though.
