    What plant defeats you?

Very interesting topic!! Spinach due to pests for me. I attempted pumpkins this year for the first time and it only produces male flowers but grew quite ridiculously. I think thats about it... Pests and possums have been my biggest enemy

overwintering Winter-Summer in OZ "Comparison" / Aussie Blabberers

I am attempting to grow but it can't be as impressive as I'd hoped due to the garden bed being shaded. That got me down a little on my gardening. Yeah I've never heard of that in Australia but I've never really lived in a city where there is space issues.

overwintering Winter-Summer in OZ "Comparison" / Aussie Blabberers

Yeah I'm dirty i spent all this money building a fence for the garden bed but it's completely shaded over winter so I've had to go with pots. Your grow list is impressive I'd hate to be carting them back and forth I've had my fare share of those, I'll have to jump over and check your glog it's...

Soil would be good I'm sure it's to do with wildlife or stress from the floods last year that would have had them fairly underwater. From the picture you can see that they tower over everything else so lighting isn't an issue.

Pretty lights! :P I'm not even using our weather to my advantage I only have like 6 plants going atm because I was strapped for cash and wasn't too sure how the growing over winter would go.

I am surrounded by trees and high queenslanders, and I have to keep moving them at night to where the possums won't find them. Other than that I'm pretty happy with the Brisbane weather...just moved up here in Jan from the south. Looking to be a bit of a cold snap on the nights this w.e though

    mangoes.

Yeah I was pretty disappointed with those two big trees, didn't set out much fruit at all. But I'm not sure if this was a possum or a bat problem. Could have also been stressed from flood waters? Only saw around 5 mangoes per tree.

    mangoes.

I can attest to their ease of germination, ours germinated from being placed in a compost heap with food scraps after being eaten

In a few years you should expect this sort of fun. When i was growing up I managed to grow a tree in a temperate climate with frosts and everything and it went well

    Pepper spray

I can't imagine it tasting very nice, probably that metallic extract taste. Plus I've seen these in use and not sure if you could apply it that to food without destroying people's eyes at the restaurant. Most hot sauces are small bottles, or maybe take a sachet of chilli powder maybe?

    pests Pest Prevention

Thanks for the updated info very interesting. I mainly had issues with tomatoes and spinach which aren't in anymore and they seem to leave my peppers alone as well? Either way I'll give it a go next summer and see if it helps in my case. Now if only it attracted possums :P
