hmmmmm...ok...gotta fess up. I was wrong about them having dark purple foliage. It's the purple flowers that had me goin on my plants. The leaves WERE greenish but had a purplish blush to them. Very attractive.
I'm sure there is. I posted a pic years back of mine. Beautiful dark purple foliage and of course jet black peppers. Can't find the pic !!! It's on here somewhere.
ETA: I had about 4 plants. 2 of em had the dark purple foliage. Others not so much.
In my almost 7 decades of existence, Tabasco will always remain an Iconic sauce for me. It has been and still is a Classic for homemade seafood cocktail sauce. Always threw it over some cheese atop crackers for a quick after-school snack prior to Mom cooking dinner...man that stuff was good...
As long as seeds are from a "fresh source" as you mention. Commercial supermarket and other outlets could have peppers that have been irradiated before reaching market.
Had that happen with Habanero seeds from Market store. The few sprouts I managed to fire off...(maybe 2 seeds out of a 100 ...

Heh, made some Rocky Road Candy couple Christmases back. Used a HUGE plastic mixing bowl . Most liked it, but some really bitched about the heat...LOL..I .never even saw it comin'...had stored fresh pods in there during the season...forgot and made candy in it. Santa in a Flame Suit...
Since your in such a hurry, yeh get the MG and amend it as you go. Maybe start a compost pile at home also and add to it periodically. Walmart has tomato food in fertillizer section for @ 4 bucks for 4 lbs or so. It works on peppers too.
