    Ska Brewing Mole Stout

I wouldn't mind trying that one. Unfortunately Louisiana isn't exactly on the cutting edge when it come to craft beer, so a lot of good stuff isn't available here. Dogfish Head's Theobroma has some ingredients similar to the stuff in Mole Stout, have you tried that one?

health Brown spots, etc. on cayennes

Welp....the Daconil seemed to take care of the fungus, sort of. Unfortunately one of my cayenne plants took a turn for the worse and kicked the bucket. The other two looked to be doing well at first but now are struggling to slowly grow some leaves back. Both of our banana peppers died, but the...

    Greetings from New Orleans LA

@ Papa: Thanks, everybody made it through unscathed. We were pretty lucky, my neighborhood didn't even lose power. Fortunately all of our plants are in containers, and they seemed to enjoy their little indoor vacation.

    New babies

I'm not going to make this into a glog, but if anyone is interested, all I did to these seeds was put them in front of a window for a couple days to dry them. Then I stuck them in a little cup of MG Seed Starter, watered them with MG Bloom Booster, put the cup on a heating mat, and covered it...

    New babies

I saved the seeds from a couple habanero pods that I bought at the grocery store. I dried them out for a couple days and planted a few of them. After only 4 days, 2 out of the 3 had sprouted. I was pretty surprised at how fast they appeared.

    Top 10 Craft Beers

I like Sierra Nevada OK. I'd say it's a pretty good benchmark for the American pale ale style. I like their Celebration Ale better. I've never had 3 Floyds, I've never lived anywhere it was available but would like to try it some day. I'm a big fan of Belgian beer, but strangely enough I've...

    recipe jerk seasoning recipe

I might be a little late jumping in here, but this is the recipe I use: 2 bunches chopped scallions (6 per bunch) 2 cloves garlic 2-3 (or more ) Scotch bonnet or habanero peppers 1 Tbsp salt 2 Tbsp ground Jamaican allspice 1 Tbsp light brown sugar 1 Tbsp lime juice 2 tsp dried...

    hp22b!

Eventually someone will come up with a pepper that's so hot, it immediately kills the person who eats it.

Thanks, I moved here last year from the Washington D.C. area. I'm a Saints fan, but my first team will always be the Redskins. Us D.C. people aren't real fond of the Cowboys lol.

Hey everybody, I've been here a few weeks now and figured I'd take a minute to say hello. I just started growing peppers in April, and I've enjoyed reading everyone's informative and/or entertaining posts. It looks like there are many knowledgeable, friendly members here!

What Books are You Reading Right Now?

I'm in the middle of "Game of Thrones". I like the show so much I decided to start reading the series, and so far I'm not disappointed. I'm also working my way through the "Dune" series and recently finished "Children of Dune". I picked up "House of Leaves" again, after putting it down about 11...

health Brown spots, etc. on cayennes

Thanks NC, so do I! Yesterday my GF and I picked up a bottle of Daconil. I sprayed my 3 cayenne plants, 2 Anaheims, and 6 Scotch Bonnets with it, as well as her banana peppers and purple bells. The banana peppers were the first plants to show the infection symptoms and eventually lost all their...

health Brown spots, etc. on cayennes

I found this article today. It's a nice guide to a variety of pepper diseases: http://aces.nmsu.edu...rs/circ549.html It looks like my cayenne plants have either bacterial leaf spot or cercospora leaf spot. I'm just not sure if it's too late to use any of the treatments recommended in the article.

health Brown spots, etc. on cayennes

Once upon a time, my 3 little cayenne plants were happily producing peppers. Here's a "before" picture taken July 28: One day, I discovered that almost all the leaves on my strongest plant (the front one in the above pic) had disappeared. Investigation revealed a huge green caterpillar with...

    media Question about peat pellets.

Thanks for the responses. I kinda get why they might say to leave the strongest seedling and cut the remaining ones, I just didn't understand why you would want to place several seeds in each pellet. It seems like a waste of seeds to kill at least half of your seedlings rather than use one seed...

    media Question about peat pellets.

I recently started a bunch of seedlings in peat pellets. One thing I was wondering about: the instructions say to place 2 or 3 seed in each pellet, then cut off the weaker seedlings in each one. Can anybody tell me why that's necessary? Thanks!

    Cayennes not hot!!!

I'm having the same issue. I bought my cayenne plants from a nursery. The first peppers they produced about a month ago were as hot as they were supposed to be, but the latest have virtually no heat. It's been very hot here, so I was watering them at least once a day. I think that's my problem...
