Hydrangia (sp?) is not flowering, help!

I'm posting this question for my mom, Heidi. She has a 3 year old plant that hasn't flowered for three years.....here's the stats:

Soil pH: 6
Sunlight: Direct for 8 hours, than in the shade for the rest
Bugs: No
Big Leaves: Yes, happy plant
Sex: Yes please

It's also in an area that gets piled on with snow during the winter.......any ideas? Should I throw some epsum salt down?
 
you might wait you said this is the third year for this plant i am not sure but i believe my grandmother had one that did not bloom for 4 or 5 years if i remember correctly also i thing she planted a mate near it but i am not 100% positive about that
