Mushrooms... Good or Bad?

Let me start by addressing the obvious quip. "No, not the psychedelic kind..."

The past couple of days the new garden beds have been sprouting mushrooms. It was a garden soil mix I got from a landscaping company that was real clumpy when I got it.

Pics below. Good or bad?

The white stains on the leaves are from dolomite lime. Just gave them a little dose.

That is some sort of Coprinus species. They will not hurt your plants a bit, and are slowly breaking down that mulch and/or decaying matter in the soil. Did you add any cow manure to the bed? If so, they may have rode in on that.

They're petty cool mushrooms! Very ephemeral, as you can tell from the ones in the first pic. They actually auto-digest their caps and gills, thereby releasing their spores in a sort of black goo. They'll likely be nothing but stems by tomorrow.
