potting up question

I bought this pot at Walmart earlyer today and this pot doesn't drain out...instead it has a bowl attached to the bottom that you cant remove and the water drains into that...I was wondering if that would cause root rot or mold

Should I just go ahead and drill holes in the bottom? And how many for a good drain

Most of those style pots have removable bottom trays. Try twisting it in either direction. If not, I would drill some holes.

I think I have the same style pot for my citrus trees... they work fine indoors for bottom watering, but once outside you're pretty much guaranteed to have 2 inches of water at the bottom without draining it constantly.

What I might end up doing is drilling a hole and fitting it with a stopper for once I bring it back inside. Not sure how it will work out, but it's a thought.
