Well, my official taster to the Bhut to his weekly chilehead gathering, and they called me to let me know what they thought. I had warned them about a report here that the plants from Cross Country might not be the real thing.
Amid the howls of pain and loud hiccuping people shouted around the phone:"It doesn't need to be any hotter", "I'll never do *that* again!", and various obscenities gasped over and over. One guy got on the phone and whined that it was too early in the season, and he needed to build his tolerance and please send some more later in the season.
My official taster described it as having seeds and veins almost to the tip with a pleasant fruity aroma. It had good flavor, briefly, and then the heat hit. It had a good lingering heat, lasting almost 15 minutes before it started to fade.
All this, mind you, from one pod.
