overwintering Winter Bonchi ornamentals...

Having some fun with these this winter...only pests are the cats! They keep eating my leaves! I suppose its their turn, the dogs spent all summer eating my tomatoes.

Time for some trimming on a few...

Nice. Amazing! Throw us a bone and give us some background: What kind of plants are they, how old are they, what is their light source(s), what kind of growing medium, what do you feed them and how often? Also, do you plan to repot them at some point?

Pesky enquiring bonchi minds would like to know....

There are 3 types, and they were all just labeled "ornamental peppers" If anyone else on here knows more info I would love to hear it! I would guess that they are all hybrids, and probably either don't have viable seeds, or will come up looking different. I'll try to start a few and see what happens??? They put out TONS of peppers! I have to harvest weekly. They're edible, but if you find some don't eat any that aren't new growth. Since they're labeled ornamental/inedible growers can use pesticides and chemicals not meant for food crops. I live in San Diego and my south facing wall is all windows, so their light source is sunlight. The soil is Bonsai Boy. I feed them every other week Schultz 10-15-10 liquid (one dropperful). They're only a few months old now. I plan on leaving these in the pots they're in, but I have a few more I separated out that I am going to keep in a large pot to see if I can get any good growth this summer then cut them back and Bonsai them next fall I might try a root over rock with one??? Kinda new to this whole Bonsai/Bonchi thing. I have a few small Junipers I have been messing with for about a year now too. Hoping to get a couple pequins going this year...I think they would work well.

Much appreciated thanks for the report. As I overwinter some plants at the bonchi size, makes me consider keeping one or two indoors for the long term to see if I could get some pods like you. Wasn't sure about ongoing ferts and growing medium. I've got a Numex pequin and some siling labuyo bird peppers that might (try to) become permanent bonchis.

Thanks again.....
