Who do you trust for Pepper Info...

Hey there...

What with all this research of mine, I keep hitting on "experts", some self-proclaimed, others with real pepper knowledge.

So here's my question...

Who do you consider to be the most knowledgeable resource when it comes to pepper knowledge??

(Hint: there are no wrong answers).

Tina,
Have to go with people I have contact with.
Like a farmer that grows 30 acres of chiles and is their main bussiness, a horticulture teacher that has published articles and people that have growing them for years. there are alot of "chileheads" that forgot more than most people know. Pictures and plants that produce don't lie and is always fun to talk with a successful grower and grab a little knowledge.

Great answer. That's how I get a lot of my info. Helps if I have a memory like a steel trap too. But I'm finding as time goes by that everyone seems to be severely limited in their pepper knowledge and that I have to talk to four or five people before I find the info I'm looking for.

There are alot of sources out there, Tina. Peppers are a personal thing to me. I grow. I taste. I read. I learn.

Peppers are my hobby. I enjoy all things chile. In the process, I continue to learn about them. At the same time, as we have discussed in the past, there are too many factors that can change the heat/yield/variation of peppers, that it would be hard to be an expert or master of anything beyond your own pepper patch. Given a change in annual rainfall, etc, that, too, may change.

Personally? I don't want to be the Pope of Peppers. If you do, more power to you. I won't bow to you, but I'll enjoy the conversations.

Naw, I don't want to be the "Pope" myself, I've discovered that his "knowledge" isn't his own, it's Dr. Bosland's. That said, I simply want to know that when I ask a question of one of the "experts" that I'm asking the right people.

I know I know what I know, but it's still limited and as weird as it sounds, the more I know, the harder a time I am having finding people who know more than I do... Is there really THAT much to know that nobody out there really is an expert.

I guess so.
