So if anybody want's to trade something for a few aphids just hit me up with a PM and we'll work out a deal.

nope - no ants, lol....

- 6 bottles of insecticidal soap, two concentrate bottles of neem oil, two treatments of dial soap, one gallon of cayenne tea and countless hours pinching leaves... 2 gallons of 1/4 cup Murphys oil soap and 2 cups rubbing alcohol.. all of these things were applied daily for over a month... surprised the plants could stand it.. --- I ordered lacewing eggs and 3,000 lady bugs - once they got in, I stopped spraying - this is one week later. . . . many dead aphids, but barely a dent since the sudden boom in population...

the sprays were holding them in check, not killing them back, but not allowing for any population booms either...

obviously wasted a lot of money trying to win back my plants, but at a certain point I just kept going out of spite.

Worst aphid attack I've ever seen, that sucks! Hope the lady bugs help out but from those pics it looks like a massive task. About 5 years back I had loads of bug problems and finally threw in the towel, so far these last 4 years been fairly good until now. I'm having a little set back with a few plants right now but seems minor in comparison to all your aphids :o Good luck!

this is my first time ever really dealing with them ... I've never had a problem in the past.. -- I thinking about setting up a pup tent and tossing in a couple raid bombs, lol

I have had aphids nearly as bad as that. I was able to turn the tide with AzaMax. I was like you, at some point I should have given up but I hosed them down the AzaMax just to spite them. You have to make sure to spray the leaves down AND do a soil drench to be effective.

Yeah, that is awesome, in a terrifying sort of way! Not sure how many ladybugs you let go, or how long they've been out there, but they should do the trick over time. When I've tried the spray-only approach, I sprayed daily from the first time I saw an aphid, and continued spraying daily for quite some time until after they were seemingly gone, to make sure they really were. But yes, now I just order ladybugs at the first signs of them. With that many aphids, you won't need to supplement the ladybug's diet for some time, but occasionally mist the plants with water so they can have a drink (plus, ladybugs like humidity), and once the aphid population goes down significantly, you can give them a mix of agave nectar and water via soaked cotton balls.

Insane dude! I'd just throw them things in the fire man. Just to be honest. Or at least cut off all the foliage, spray all the roots and branches off, and dip em in some soapy water, and replant in some new soil. I bet it would do wonders for ya.

Nice crop, I think you have a weed growing under all those aphids though.... Maybe once you harvest the aphids you can pull the weed out.

I kid I kid.... Worst aphids I have seen, I would just nuke them and start fresh next season. I would have too much fear of that herd moving to my seedlings for 2014.

Whatever you do, I wish you luck, and I hope that I never have a problem that bad.

Right now I have 15 of the plants under water in my tub mixed with neem oil, murphys and dial ... ... I'll keep them under water for a couple hours pull them out, rinse them off and see how that goes....

Last year hubby had a bhut that got infested with them damn things then they spread to the front yard to my roses. We got Miracle Grow Aphid and like two other bug spray it was safe for edible and non-edible plants. Worked in just a couple days. Our population was no where near like that though. Good luck!

whoa yuck. aphids are god awful. I only tried to over winer four bhuts and they have aphids, but I have kept them in check. That looks like a soul crusher.

At this point it's more amusing than anything.. a battle of wills - I will come out victorious, or die (kill my plants) trying, lol.

thats nasty, I had the same problem, I cut all the leafs back, washed all the soil off with soap water, thats the only sure way to get rid of them from my experience
