Cabe Merah Besar?

In indonesia and Malaysia, they use a variety of chili pepper which is called "Cabe merah besar" or "Big red chili". It's usually 5-8 inches long, red, glossy and about as big around as a grown man's thumb, maybe a bit bigger.

I can't find these peppers because "big red chili" is a bit too vague. The closest thing I've found is Cayenne or Fireflame.

That IS pretty close. They seem a bit small and curly, but definitely close.

you can get the same results from some of the larger Indian species or even giant cayenne, it looks alot like many other species and im pretty sure there isn't much difference between them
most species in this group are so close in look,flavor etc that its easy to substitute

I believe it is also called Cili Kulai, try that.

i cant say i ever heard that name before the only one i have is CILI GORONONG, but if you have no luck finding it you could sub Giant cayenne,

but you can bet its a common one like the Siling Haba is in the Philippines
you got the name correct , i just yahoo searched it and it came up you should be able to find seeds for it online
