I've been considering many options to grow things in the winter. It's not very hard because I'm in Phoenix, AZ, but we still get freezes now and then. First I was considering growing indoors, but decided that's not a very good option. I have settled on a greenhouse. I want about a 4x4x4 clear box for a single plant, but I don't know what material to use. Plexiglass is way to expensive. I'm starting to think saran wrap, but I don't know what to use as a cheap frame. Thanks!

I was looking at plastic sheeting online earlier in the year and you can get a roll for about 50 bucks. The plastic allegedly only lasts 1 season, but for how big you want it you would be able to use that roll for a few years..
PVC is also really cheap. You could make a square bottomed frame and cross over from corner to opposite corner. You should be able to find some on youtube to look at.

Go scrounge a dump for windows, or buy from a demolition recycler.
Wife built one from a bunch of thrown away windows, 2x4's, old conveyor belting and a couple of heat lamps.
Right @ $100 with new lights and 3 new compost bins.
Sanded down, caulked, and repainted. it doesn't look like the junk it was made from.

I wouldn't spend a lot on it if youre in Phoenix. I'm in Tucson and you will only really need it for the next 2 months MAX, in march they will take off with no cover. I just cover my plants for parts of Jan and Feb (not even right now) and they grow a bit but just slow. If you want them to grow quickly, and you want dirt cheap, try this: Plastic drop cloth, a sheet, sticks to hold them up, rocks to weigh down the edges, and an incandescent light bulb inside for added heat. Put the sticks in the ground, throw the sheet over first, then the plastic, stick the light inside, weigh down the edges and you're good to go. Just keep the bulb away from the sheet and off the ground if possible. Its ok if its on the ground but you may lose a few bulbs so watch it.

Thanks for the link. I'll have to save it for future use. Since it's getting warmer, I don't think it'll be necessary yet.
