In Colorado, there aren't many natural pollinators for Bhut Jolokias, so my grandson  and I pollinate mine with small, soft paint brushes.

peppers self pollinate so unless you are crossing "under a cotrolled situation" you dont need to worry about that.
 
i woud say you are wasting your time other wise.  but since its with your grands,thats awesome and you are teaching him something imortant. but also make sure he knows what needs to be pollinated and what not.
 
enjoy this awesome site and keep spending outside time with anyone that will let you. its the best gift we can give.

Hello from way down south here in C. Springs.  That is a nice looking garden there, guessing that was from last year.
