RIP Johnny Winter

I remember when he got our of rehab and Rick Derringer wrote "Still Alive and Well" for him....he was a great guitarist and performer along with his brother, Edgar....I got to see Edgar and White Trash in a small club in Columbia, SC back in 72 or 73....I also met Johnny backstage while Edgar was playing at the Charleston Civic Center in 72 or 73...he had a whole lot of blow goin' on...

So true sicman. Same with Eric Clapton, The Who, The Stones and so many other greats we are probably going to see pass away in our lifetime. Kind of a strange feeling isn't it?

Very sad day. I saw Edgar 20 years ago, and saw Johnny about 15 years back.

Johnny was just at Yoshi's in Oakland last year. I was going to go, but tickets were $120 ea , which was ridiculously expensive for Yoshi's, especially since the sets are a tight 1.5 hours and rarely go over.

Today I am full of regret that I didn't cough up the $ to go. :(

RIP to a legendary blues man.

They sure seem to be dropping like flies these days. :(

On a brighter note, can yall imagine the blues jam going on up in heaven right now with Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughn? That has to be epic!

And Jimi, Janice, Etc etc etc
:(

RIP Johnny.

Saw him back in college in the early 90's.

He was still touring and doing what he loved till the very end.

One of the greatest blues guitarist ever.

I saw Johnny numerous times in the 70s, so drunk a roadie had to run out to center stage and hook his guitar strap for him. I saw him again around 2007. He was just a shell of his former self.

Ginger Baker.

That prick?

Even the devil doesn't want him.

Ginger's like your crazy drunk all the time uncle.

Just being around him is annoying and pissed off worthy.

But get him behind the kit and all is right with the world again.

drunk wasn't all he was....

But you still have to admit...he was/is one hell of a drummer...listen to the drum solo in the extended version of "Do What You Like"....he never hits the same lick twice and listen to the twin basses when he gets the roll goin'

I suppose I am a big fan of Bakers no matter what...I saw Blind Faith in Milwaukee in 1970 for Octoberfest...
