Here's one of the first reviews for the Naga Snake Bite Pure Venom.
Ingredients: Onions, carrots, tomatoes, vinegar, Naga Morich, red chillis, ginger, sugar, bell peppers, garlic, olive oil, salt, 6.6 million SHU chilli extract.
At first it looks much the same colour as the Naga Snake Bite (15 pod one), maybe slightly less orange. I could smell the extract straight away like I can with all extract sauces I've tried. The consistency was better than the Snake Bite PR though, I managed to pour it out of the bottle a little easier. When I first dipped my finger in it and tasted it I expected maybe a little hotter but it suddenly hits you and it's a lasting burn at the middle and sides of the tongue. There's a faint taste of carrots, tomatoes and I think I detected the ginger but I did find you have to mix it well as on finishing the testing with a bit more from the bottle I could definitely taste the carrots and onions. The more I tried it the more I started to really like it. The heat lasts, I'd say 9-10, but it's hard grading a heat for an extract sauce against the others. To be honest a lot of it is just a burning tongue but not unpleasant or too hot, plenty hot enough for most people though. To me it was like the Snakebite PR with the heat overtaking the carroty flavour, I was surprised that onions were the first ingredient. For cooking with I think this would be a fantastic sauce, I wouldn't choose it as an everyday sauce, I think whatever you put with it would have to have a strong flavour. I must admit it's a lot better than what I was expecting. Please bear in mind with this review that I am not a big fan of extract sauces.
Flavour 6/7 out of 10
consistency 7 out of 10
Heat 10 out of 10
Well done Mark, and thank you for this great opportunity.
