wondering what to plan on growing this next season

I know it's a long way off but I'm planning on making 1 or 2 growing shelf systems in my basement so I can start seeds during winter.. looking to find out if growing peppers and other vegtables next to each is a bid deal as long as you care for them a cording to what they are... I'm also not a super hot fan but I'm wanting to grow some peppers that you can't find in stores of course.. same with other vegtables.. any suggestions or advice would be very helpfull!
 
I think Brazilian Starfish is a great idea. It is a mild pepper with a unique shape and an AWESOME flavor! One of my favorite!

All excellent suggestions.  I'd heartily second the Aleppo and add Alcalde (landrace), Fish pepper and most anything from the NuMex collection; Big Jim especially. 
 
I haven't tasted them yet, recommending based on a review, but any of the Lindberg seed set if you can go the price. Benefits a charitable cause, too. Aji Jobito particularly which has been reviewed on THP. Won't find that pepper in any store. Never too early to start planning. Hehe.

You may want to think about what the end result is that you want?  What to do with all those peppers.  Make a hot sauce, pickling peppers for burgers and salads, powders for cooking, etc. etc.
 
Cholulla style sauce - de Arbol and Pequin peppers or maybe a Habanero to kick it up or ...  I made a nice Habanero sauce this year with plain Orange Habs.
Pickled Jalapeno - Biker Billy Jalapeno or Fresno.  I pickled Biker Billy Jals that I got from a THP member, they were great!
Powders - Albanian Hot Pepper to me is great pepper for powder, a medium hot with great flavor that you could make into a hot paprika.  I ordered Judy's Aci Kirmizi Arnavut powder it is fantastic.  Sweet, hot, acidic, and salty all together

I went to my local farmers market and talked to the guys there. Determined what they were growing next year and decided to grow what ever I want that they won't be selling.

So far on my list:
7pot Burgundy
Douglah
Purple Jalapeño
Lemon Drop
Choc. Habanero
Yellow Fatallii
Aji Jobito

I am saving room for 1 more super hot, and 2 more sweet varieties.
 
Wow thank you everyone for the reply and information.. in process of looking up all the different peppers and starting a notebook of notes of course lol but I would also like to ask if anyone has other sites other than pepperlover.com and rareseeds.com.. have never ordered seeds online and just looking for some more info thanks to everyone again!

Those are some good, reputable seed vendors for you to check out. Note that the last 3 are outside the US, and have to pass through customs, so you might want to get the import permit (small batches of seeds) as recommended on Semillas site if you order from them. Then again, I have received seeds from both Hippy Seed Company and Mojo with no permit and no issues. But it's taking a risk.
 
For the Lindberg seeds, your best bet is probably to PM SmokenFire. I believe he is distributing those in the US on Lindberg's behalf.
