Tomato: Pink Brandywine vs Caspian Pink

every so often i do the "best tasting tomato" search on google and a couple years ago the rave was caspian pink. many stated the caspian pink rivalled the pink brandywine, so i had to have the seeds. purchased them for 2015 grow, side by side pink brandywine vs caspian pink.

well, got to try them and ............................. nope, just no! in no way did the caspian pink compare to the pink brandywine.

pink brandywine, tasty, sweet with a lingering flavour in the mouth, caspian pink had a quick sweetness then just faded, i had to try several more and all the same results, fast sweetness then gone.

not disappointed and maybe one day caspian pink will make my tomato grow list again, just not in the near future.

thanks for reading.

Brandywine has been my favorite for a few years. I dont call it pink though. The original is pink afaik, the red came after. I either say brandywine or red brandywine. Maybe its just OCD or somethin'.

Have you tried Cowlick's Brandywine? Been growing this one for a few years and love the flavor, not sweet, just a more intense flavor.

This year my 2 mostt flavorful tomatoes were Guido and Goldman's Italian American.

thanks you for reading my post.

no, didn't know such a creature existed. i have red brandywine that i grew in the past but i don't know what strain, ever since i grew them for a neighbour that is all he grows. i do have a package of mix tomato seeds that says yellow brandywine are included but the seeds i have grown have never produced anything other than nebraska wedding and purple cherokee.

thanks catherinew, let me look into your tasty varieties and see if i can find them locally.
