Had an idea for a tiled table for the Weber.  First slap up pretty good.  Gonna sink some bolts deeper into the hardwood and sand back.  Stain the structural HPTP and then 2 coats clear polyurethane.  Gonna also silicone the tiles and grout a lip where the 'Q meets the tiles and under too.
 
Pretty happy with how it's come together.
 

 
I have plans for the tiled bit from the hole...
 

 
Gotta make a thingey to hang the lid and gonna make some other mods for tools and possibly a cabinet on the left half for charcoal and bits and bobs

Class!  Seeing the tile reminded of a side table design by KAT Fabrication for their Santa Maria grill.  The 16"x16" tile sits in a steel frame on either side of the grill, so that when the tile gets stained or cracked, it can be easily popped out and replaced.  Simple..

Nice! Is there anything protecting the wood from heat around the bottom of the kettle?

If you use plywood, as the base, then Hardi-Backer® cement board, cut the hole in the plywood 3" bigger than the BBQ, cut the Hardi-Backer and tile to the finished size, it can take the heat.
 
I'll just put these here for no particular reason.
