Not so Pequin- Chocolate?

I started some pequins late in season
The one I have going in a pot was throwing large, long pods white a few others are normal sized.

Well today while watering I noticed not only are they large but they appear to be chocolates as well.

There's 4-5 plants going, each one looks a little different. This one I think is closest to growing true?

Here's two plants next to eachother, can see the big difference in leaves, size pods ect.

Curious to see how they taste.

Whoa thats trippy? Kinda looks like a chocolate goatsweed? is the plant kinda fuzzy? It looks kinda fuzzy, hard to tell though. Is that two pods out of one node in the top pic?

not fuzzy but yea there are two pods out of that node.

Your right though, that last plant is fuzzy, that's probably the cross. It's a different plant than the one throwing brown pods but all from the same dried pod you sent me.

The one that has browning pods also has a hint of red to the pod so i'll give them a few more days. Maybe they will go green, brown then red.

All this time I've been waiting for you to make a goatsweed cross and you get one outta seeds I sent you.    maybe?

Were they out of the kinda long pequin pods I sent you? I remember my regular pequin throwing 3 or 4 long pods that year, curious if those were the crosses??

There was long and short pods in the bag, don't remember which I used. I'll send you a sfrb once they all start ripening

Stoked!!  Yea I remember sending you a couple those odd long ones. The couple pods out of one node and the brown make me curious about a chinense cross as well though? Jah choc hab, choc bhut, and a brown moruga cross are still possibilities too I reckon. sorry bout not growing true  ;)

as long as they taste good i'm happy. I gave a plant to a mexican buddy of mine because he killed his dads overwinter. He's getting long pods too. Not sure if they brown or not. Could just be part of a color change.

Yea the pods went red. Nice looking pods though. I bet they taste good. I'll give one a try this weekend.

The more I look at the pics the more I'm leaning towards a goatsweed being the father.

I tasted these, never had a fresh pequin so can't compare yet but I really like the taste. Has a very sweet taste, around serrano heat. Tasty pepper.  Some the juices have a red tint to them,

Thanx ,
great pics and write-up.
I love to explore different phenos of one cross or even stable pepper.
