fermenting Ferment Question

I have a little over 15lbs of mash fermenting in a 5 gallon glass carboy with airlock. It's been fermenting well for the last few weeks and the airlock is bubbling like I was brewing beer, no worries there.

Question:

Would it be bad to add another 15lbs of new mash on top of the already fermenting mash then add more brine and put airlock back on?

or should I just use a separate glass carboy for the new mash?

Thanks for any help,

cheers

Sounds like you have alot of headspace  in the carboy.  My guess is yes but it is just a guess.
5 gallon carboy would be just about perfect for 30lbs of mash. The 15lbs with brine is a little less then half the 5gal.

You'd probably be fine, but on the odd chance that there's any little thing wrong w the newer batch you risk spoiling the whole thing.  It's a chance I took last year after getting an unexpected amount of peppers at the end of the season and lost about 4 gallons of mash.
