[discussion] Artificially selecting peppers on flowers

Hey guys! This is just for a fun discussion, and not to be taken too seriously.

So I was just looking through Tick's 2015 2016 glog and I noticed the close-ups of some of the flowers. They look just like snowflakes, all with a slightly different shape and color. They're amazingly beautiful. It made me think about what would happen if we started selecting chiles on their flowers. Flower size, color, markings etc. I would love to see one of those flowers in giant form.

What do you guys think? And which chile has the most pretty flowers?

Edit: It took me this long to notice that I said 2015 instead of 2016. Lol, my bad.

That would mean giant peppers!

Oh yeah I didn't even think about that yet. Seeing the flowers of bell peppers that makes total sense. Anyone know which strain has the biggest flowers?

Thanks about the flowers!

There's a pod on that baccatum x Cumari Pollux F2 with the lilac (and  most snowflake-like) flowers that should be pollinated with CAP 1151.  1151 has the biggest flowers on a baccatum that I've grown so far.  The initial cross was not for just for flowers, but after seeing all the variety in them, I happened to make the outcross in large part to get a baccatum with both larger and interesting flowers.  It's a mature-sized pod and the plant is doing OK despite not much light, so hopefully it will ripen soon...

Pretty cool topic. I've never seen anything but small white flowers and never thought much about them. That big purple one is cool. Anyone ever get any smell from a pepper flower?
