The Cayenne are still OK, which I expected, but the Yellow Primo are holding up as well, which surprised me.

2017 grow officially done. Forecast calls for low 20° temperatures tonight.

Picked the last pods:

Left - Joe's Long Cayenne.

Right - Ecuadoran Hot Lemon Cayenne.

Some ripe pods from earlier go in to the dehydrator:

Yellow Primo.

Top four rows - M.O.A. ScotchBonnet.

Bottom row left-to-right - Bhutlah, Caramel Large Scorpion cross, Chocolate Bhutlah.

Still have hundreds (maybe even over one thousand) pods left to ripen and dehydrate.

I am waiting until all pods are dry before grinding them up.

Stay tuned...

Wow, Al!  I haven't been here in a while, so your notifications are full of likes.  Sorry  ;)

Banner year for you, my friend, tons of great looking peppers.

One question - I couldn't tell from your pics, do you slice your pods before putting in the dryer?

I usually de-seed and cut in half to speed up the drying time.  Whole pods take so long.  I

usually try to dry at lower temps (100-120˚F) to conserve the beautiful colors and make

really nice, brightly colored grinds. I then separate the flakes and fine powder

into separate jars.

Congratulations on a really nice grow, Al.  Really enjoyed your arrays of pods on the dryer racks!

Not bad year at all, but actually, last year was better, quantity-wise.

I dry pods whole, otherwise the fumes can be rather intense.

I dry at 145°F to 155°F, and the colors do not seem to fade all that much. It usually takes one or two days, depending on the pod.

Thanks.

To be honest, I post the pics of the dryer racks to help me remember what pod was what.
