The leaves on the Serranos in the back (middle) have not separated, do you let nature take its course or do they sometimes need a little help by separating them?

Yes, seperate them. You can free them easily with a small pair of scissors or nail clippers. Make sure you sterilize them first!

Thank you, I just sterilized my 4" KAI scissors and they trimmed flawlessly.  Super idea, thanks!
