Vietnamese man makes Indonesian sauce with Thai name in California that most people think is Chinese.

Actually the story behind the Huy Fong Sriracha guy(David Tran) is pretty interesting. He was a Chinese national in Vietnam. Major political upheaval happened and he fled Vietnam. He spent several months on a boat before he was let into the country. The companies name is named after that boat. The Sauce recipe does originate in Thailand, though the mash it's made from is very much an Indonesian invention.

that stuff is awesome, it is the base for alot of thai/asian stuff I cook , I just kick up the heat level with extra "stuff" depending on the dish
is it wrong that Ive even used that stuff as a sandwich spread... 
This was my gateway sauce and the first I ever purchased by the case.
