food-safety Sterilizing

Every article I have read points to sanitization DOES NOT equal sterilization. I am not a scientist or even close to an expert. Everything I have read says that sterilization is sanitation on steroids. It is taking sanitization one step forward .

Although...maybe I am reading #fakenews

I suppose sanitization could refer to just "cleaning".  Regardless though, I think we're all after the same thing, 0 chance of infection from stray bad fungus & bacteria.  For brewing we use starsan which does accomplish this.  I also use it for hot sauce making along with heating the mash immed prior to bottling

Sterilize means to remove 100% of germs. As in hospital operating room.

Sanitize is to reduce germs.

Also a difference in disinfecting.

Spoken as a certified custodian.
I believe the correct term is "Master Of The Custodial Arts"
