First Time Pepper Grow

Here we are about 2 months after planting. The plants do not seem to be growing very fast to me but Chewi has ensured me that they are doing great! The Habanero seems to be a runt as it is a small shrub lol. I brought the Mammoth Jap inside and have it under a 450w Viparspectra LED grow light. I put a tsp of CalMag in a gallon of water and split it between the 6 plants last night and will do that once a week. Seeing as I am in a mountain climate and temps RARELY get above 85 in the summer I am hoping to grow until the first freeze. The Anaheim and both New Mexico 6-4's have got baby peppers growing already.
On the OTHER grow that I have going :metal: - Northern Skunk (Northern Lights x Skunk #1) and White Widow are doing great. They are both in a 3x2x5 tent under two 300w Viparspectra lights. Had a little set back after some wind burn on the WW but she is pulling through nicely. Tentative harvest date for these two ladies is 8/1 give or take a few days.

Here are some pics of the pepper plants. Jalapeno, NM 6-4, Habanero, NM 6-4, Anaheim, Mammoth Jalapeno.

More to come later!

First a compliment or two, nice to see dry media (Not saturated garden soil!) in those grow bags & generally those plants look good.

Besides a bit small the Hab looks a mite yellow, besides CalMag what are you using for ferts?

You might also want to pick the buds and flowers off. If you are concerned about size, unhindered flower development with be a detrimental factor in plant growth.

Chile,
Thanks! I am a fan of the fabric pots. As far as nutes, just whatever is in the Miracle Grow Potting Mix so far. Besides the CalMag I have FoxFarm: Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom on hand.

CAPCOM,
I think I will do this! I am in no hurry at all for the peppers but would like them to be bigger. Thanks!

I gag when I chew up and swallow an enormous pod. I prefer large pods for cooking and small to medium pods for eating fresh.

This is why I haven't eaten a chocolate bhutlah. They're the size of 2.5 peppers typically.

In reviewing these, FoxFarm Grow Big ( 6 - 4 - 4 ) , FoxFarm Tiger Bloom ( 2 - 8 - 4 0FoxFarm Big Bloom ( 0 - 0.5 - 0.7 ), I would use the Grow Big with a slight modification to their recommended application (You meet their criteria as to when, "Use Grow Big® early in the season when young plants need an extra boost. & Allow new plantings a few days to settle in,"), "then begin using at the rate of two teaspoons per gallon of water every other time you water. ", use one (1) teaspoon per gallon every time you water but make sure you soak the media and wait until the plant droops a bit, thus insuring the media is dry round the roots, before you soak the media next time.

So let me explain a few things. 1 is I've used MG Potting Mix for over 20 years and have found it has time release nutes that may not be immediately available so feeding 1/2 FoxFarm nutes every time when media dry not over doing it. 2 is the three nutes you listed, notice I posted the ratios, use the Grow Big mid June into July until the blooms are going great (Remember annums bloom earlier than chinense so adjust per species.) then roll in the Tiger Bloom. 3 is soaking - drying cycle...never having used grow bags, only pots, when the media is soaked the bag weighs X and when dry weighs much less...use that as a basis on when to water as a rain storm will change the weight.

Chile,
YOUR THE MAN! I have been allowing the media to dry completely and plants droop before watering as I learned from the medicinal plants, it grows a stronger root system. So just to be clear, you recommend to start at the next watering with the Grow Big and then when the blooms are good, ADD the Tiger Bloom? Or switch from GB to TB?

Thank you for the guidance brother!
