Sad looking Cumari Alongado

cumari alongado.jpg

This plant never looked happy, since its conception. It has sad, droopy leaves and no matter what I do to cheer her up, looks sad and depressed. Now it looks like it has some sort of mineral deficiency even though I feed it with different ferts over the last couple of months: Chempak N, P, Ca, chicken pellets tea, sea weed extract and all that with care to not over do it.

I've decided to give it away to a coleague from work to give it another chance at life. Could anyone shine some light on what could be wrong with the b*stard?

Looks a little leggy to me. Is it just getting light from the window? If so, definitely consider placing it outside or finding a light to put it under. Its hard to tell from the lighting in the pic, but it looks like you have some chlorosis going on as well. Most likely a deficiency in iron, which is pretty simple fix. Best thing to do is test the soil to see if there is an excess in P, and check to make sure the ph isnt out of whack. If you dont have the means to do that, I would just flush the soil real good and wait a few days before adding anything and see if it corrects itself. If not, a small dose of chelated Iron should take care of it. Overall though, your plant looks healthy.

No, this plant lived with all others, outside in the garden till this morning. This is our office window where it will only spend today till 5ish. I have another Cumari Alongado which is more than twice the size of this one and they were both started same time, same conditions.

I'm giving this plant to a coleague from work and would like to give them some instructions if they are to enjoy this plant. Maybe it didn't like my garden and will be happier on their balcony in a slightly bigger pot.

Thanks for your answer.

i don`t see anything wrong with the plant. i have two of each of several different peppers and some are twice the size of their sister plants. i have 10 plants growing now ranging from 15 inches tall to 2.5 feet. my largest peppers are on the 15 inch plant so go figure! one of my jalapenos is loaded with pods and the other has almost nothing. it`s just mother nature. give it more time.

It probably is OK, just a bit droopy. Her sister is the same, just more than twice the size. I have also experienced this fenomenon where several plants, started at the same time, under same conditions, grow at the different rates. I have 3 Cayenne plants and only one producing, other two hardly any. One aborted about 20 buds just like that. They were sitting next to each other, same size (12L) pots, same medium...

I'm finding it strange but I'm not worried. Yet.
