I’ve showered up for the day and heading out to go fishing! Not going to walk back to the greenhouse for a photoshoot, but will update with my last ditch effort to save genetics. Pulled out what was left of the seed binder and planted seeds of everything that I found interesting. Knowing how poor my previous germination rates were I dropped 10 plus seeds in each tray plug in an effort to get anything to pop. If I somehow get any survivors we will cull the weak and push the strong to get a few pods and refresh the seed stock. Here’s to hoping!

I won’t list all varieties as I don’t hold much hope for most.

Seed starting mix- 60/40 coco and perlite

Tray 1: Whipped up a Bloody Mary and went to town.

Tray 2:

Finally onto the heating pads and under the domes. Fingers crossed!

Looks like you have enough varieties to go forward!

You know, now that you have planted all of your

Ain’t that the truth! I found another box of seeds today from an earlier grow (2017?) These will go in the ground Tuesday. Hopefully will have decent germination rates with the newer seeds.

Just a bit, I have 3-6 of most varieties. Think I’ll do one of each variety in a 15 gallon and give it the same treatment as the Hemp mothers. The others will either go into raised beds or straight into the ground depending on space when it is planting time.

Will also have to snap some pictures, but I actually have had a handful of the old seeds hook over the past few days. Hoping for more.

Quick update:

Had pepper pop on the following plants: Sugar apple, Venezuelan Tiger, Cap 691, Black Pearl, Long Red, Aji Amarillo, Lemon Drop, Cream Fatali, Orange Thai Chili, Unknown super hot cross, and my favorite cross I thought I lost, MOA S.B X Yellow Scorpion.

The past 48 hours have given us inches of rain so it has been a lot of wet work. This morning I was determined to get as many peppers out of the start trays as possible. I brought everything into the greenhouse to escape the rain and got to work.

Potting mix: 50% topsoil and perlite potting mix and then 50% coco and perlite tray mix.

Couple of “before” pictures. Had to climb up on the benches for some of these.

Mixed enough soil up for 18 (3) gallon pots so picking my favorite 18 to rehome. Another 24 ended up going into a raised bed. Will adress the rest shortly.

Really excited about this pepper. I’ve labeled it as Home Sweet Home, HSH. This pepper perpetually was growing and cross pollinating in our garden. I would collect seeds and regrow randomly. Over the years this pepper’s parents grew and wild sprouted. Last year I forgot all about this pepper and went to clear a garden bed. I was surprised to find another plant growing with a few ripe pods. I collected seeds to start growing the pepper out. It’s been a while since I tasted a pod but I remember it being so sweet I said I would never grow another sweet pepper. If you look closely many of the leaves seems to almost have a bit of purple trim running around the outside. Definitely keeping a close watch on the Home Sweet Home!!

Need help with this one: I believe this is the first “Farmers Market Jalapeno” I’ve ever grown out. Not being very familiar with this plant does it typically have hairs? Pictures included, the growth feels very Annuum but these hairs feel off? Any ideas?

I grew some of those a few years ago. If I remember correctly, the plants were a little fuzzy. I never grew them again as not a single pod had the slightest bit of heat/spice. I will see how yours do.
