i'll try and put a pic soon. there are a couple shots in my glog, but now i think there are more peppers and growing larger.

i still haven't chosen my contestant plant, as at least 3 look VERY similar in growth and pod number/size.

i believe it's within the rules to wait on choosing the entrant until the moment before removing pods off any plant, is that correct?

but it's NOT allowed to pick peppers off and then weigh the haul from each BEFORE selecting, also right?

Hmm, I'm pretty sure nobody said anything like that seciond part. It does seam like fetching a little but surely not like something stupid to do. All I know is - only one plant's yeld should go into the contest. I was thinking more - should we even grow more than one after choosing? That was my worry because I love growing them and don't know if I could kill everything but one 😅 . And we gladly said we can, so weighting first yelds off of two plants and choosing the bigger one should not be problematic as long as we are fair.

Also, if while picking you don't see the difference the choice probably won't matter. I would say tho - don't post yelds off of those two plants, post only chosen one.

Thanks @wiicek that plant had flowers earlier than plant #2.
Is your plant putting on new growth now? I believe it likes real hot weather, it was a cool spring & it grew very little until now.

It does, I need more time to see what does it like more tho. I have one on the balcony and few in the polly and the contenstant grows outside under the sun. This on the balcony is a joke, I love it but it's not my favourite child. Contestant, well:

Sideshots. And I have ants there and they did a hole in one pepper, I will have to look out for aphids as well then, I don't see any for now. SNAILS THO, THOSE DICKS.

But overall it looks fine.

Those in tunnel tho, well, they are my favourites.
I just wanna see the Chosen One to show them but it looks like I have made a bad environment for her. But maybe it's just not a perfect moment.

i didn't participate ever before this year, but tuning in to previous contests, i feel like i saw most people had chosen very early on which was their entrant. this could very likely be because they were culling all others to make room for other types they are growing (or to eliminate the temptation to cheat lol).

but i thought i had read that the contestant plant MUST be chosen BEFORE any peppers (from ANY plant of that variety) are harvested.

anyone with previous GD experience able to chime in? or anyone feel like reading back on previous ones to see if this is a rule? or do we just choose this year's rule one way or another now?

not that i am going to win, i think others have got me beat already...

Thanks to my dog I have now this much:

Pepper to weight. I will have to buy a scale because it seems like both of mine broke somehow. 😒

Will take a picture.

Smaller one, he's name is Q, has a tail made of steel. And likes to work it like he was a helicopter.

Also @Bou!

Okay guys and gals Rich is out, but that doesn't mean there isn't a war on the horizon! Here's what I propose to keep this tradition alive. Those who are still interested raise your hand and suggest a pepper you would like to grow. For obvious reasons we should stick to a stable variety and everyone should buy their seeds from the same source, as we did in 2020. with the yellow Fatalli from SSE. The other rules could remain the same as in previous editions:

1: If you vote, you must grow and show (no free lunch) and you must agree to the SASE requirement to enter.
2: Seeds are obtained by sending SASE to our volunteer seed liaison. (to be determined)
3: Since we are well into January, start them as soon as you get them.
4: Grow them all, however you want, but chose ONLY ONE plant to enter into the competition. Any cultivation method you please, but once you weigh the first harvest off your chosen plant, that's your forever plant, until the end. All weight entries are to be made from that plant the entire season.
5: You must participate and supply the other competitors with proof of life. Photos of the pack of seeds + each harvest and it's weight.
6: At the end of the year, all totals will be tallied up and the competitor with the MOST WEIGHT off a SINGLE PLANT in a SINGLE SEASON Wins.
7: The Growdown King is to be showered with gifts by all the losers.

The pepper that gets the most votes would be selected. What do you think?

I have tried to find out about BOU, without any luck. Does anyone know something?

What do we do about BOUs Throw down?

Who all is still in?
