event NW Chilefest 2013 Discussion

bummer about Banks, but that's the way it goes...

Sun Lakes is a nice campground. When we stayed there I wasnt looking for group campsites. It's a pretty large campground. Hopefully they have a group site that would be sweet.

I'm going to Wenatchee this week and will side trip to leavenworth KOA for pics and a very frank converstion with the owners/managers... see how they feel about some crazyass chileheads rocking it out for a few days...

Hey Ann. I am back from the woods now. Haven't had much time to catch up on things yet, but I will repeat what I said a while back. You have done so much for this event since the beginning, I believe you have earned the right to have it on the East side. I have no idea where, but I will go with anything you decide. I was sick about missing this last one, especially since it was in my own back yard at one of my regular spots. I will do everything I can to make the one next year.

:woohoo: chileaddicts back!

I'm going to check out the Leavenworth KOA this week. I've been to the Sun Lakes a couple years ago, so hopefully one or the other will work out.

Ditto what others have said - I know you, Scovie & the rest of the PNW-ers will figure out the best scene - group campsite (for tents, campers, whatnot) would be awesome, and so long as the place has year-round fire pits, we can cook so that works great too.

Date works great for late August.

There is also a state park campground at Steamboat Rock on Banks Lake.I have friends who stayed there a little while ago,I'll ask how it was.
Sun Lakes I believe has a private campground and a state park right next to each other. The state park area was really strict on noise, but
it was a over ten years ago I was there.

Well, all I have to say is if chileaddict says this is one of his favorite places I would think it would be an awesome place to go. I would say at this point he would be the expert on cool places.

But, as for me I am in where ever we go. I just cannot wait for it to come

I know, off topic......
I have two brain strain plants I would like to give to someone to overwinter and such, I do not have the time or space to attend them, and they are from seeds from the mother plant that Cappy had. For details, PM, me.......

RS67, are these the two you started in the fall a couple years ago?

What do you easterners know about Conconully??? I just looked it looks like there's RV and tent sites and there's a river too. Just asking. I could be

We were just up there this summer. The state park is really nice, but the lake right there at the park is a really shallow, muddy, weedy cove. There are a couple of private campgrounds also. The one we stayed at, at least the row we stayed in was pretty tight and it was gravel. The front row along the lake was grassy. Liar's Cove...that's the place. It would be a good place as it's privately owned. But, again, it's over 2 hours north of Wenatchee.

Hhhmmm..... ok. Was just looking around today. Looked like the mapwas pretty close to you guys (well at least the one I was looking at). Anywho... just been browsing guess I need to take the Parks address and Google map/direction from Methow Valley area.

Carrying on.............

Thanks for looking around, Megan. I've found out that a comprehensive campground listing or guide does not exist. I drove to Leavenworth a couple days ago and went to their visitor center. Got 3 other campgrounds tha I had not found online. I've said it before, but I even google our valley, and less than half show up on the listings.

So- having said all that...

I'm making the call!

SUN LAKES RESORT (edit, I typed sun banks, but it's Sun Lakes! thanks scovie~)

AUGUST 16-17-18

Check out the resort, it has a lot of fun activities, pool, lake, etc.... If you look at the site map, we will probably be in the most upper-right loop. I'll post more when I'm back on the laptop, not the tablet. They also have cabins and mobile homes for those so inclined. They do not have a picnic shelter group setting, but we can set up our own area withinourcampsite.

They start processing reservations Feb 1st. (this is subject to revision, but) A deposit of one nights rental is required when making the reservation. You can cancel up to 2 weeks ahead of the date. We can pool our reservations, and one person can call in on Day1 and then each party has 2 weeks to call them to pay for their depost.

We stayed in one of the rustic cabins a couple years ago. The pool is good-sized, theres lots of grass and trees, it'll be hot, and we'll have fun! Oh, and Rumour Has It....we'll be hosting some airline travelers, so the vicinity to Spokane International is much better. :woohoo:

Good call SL. Sun Lakes is a great location and it will be HOT!

Check out the amenities, camp spots, cabins, store, golf, pool, etc here...

thanks for the link, Scovie.

With any campground, we won't be able to run amuck...but we will have TONS of fun, and this is a very kid-friendly place.

No prob SL, I don't trust your KenDoll tablet. :)

And I plan on running a HUGE muck. dare me?

just you wait and see...
