Meatfreak 2013

With some delay I sowed last sunday, 24 february. First I had doubts to start at all since it was already getting late in season but with all the varieties (thanks to all the great people I traded with!) I wanted to try I had to give it a try
biggrin.png
Keep in mind that the list was over 100 varieties, so I trimmed it down a lot. I intend to keep the 2 strongest plants of each variety except for the Piment d'Espelette. Some seeds are already old like the CGN (±8 years), so I got replacements in case the have popped up in 2 weeks.

I re-potted the Chimayo seedlings tonight, I will give away most of them.

Nice start Stefan. I see you are gearing towards the jalapenos again! I am interested to see how the coyote zan white turns out. The one I saw was white as a t shirt and not the typical cream color of most whites. Best of luck this year!

Hi Stefan
I was wondering if you'd get in on this glog action... Glad to see you represented in fine style with good germination rates. I'll definitely be checking in here periodically. Good luck on your grow this year!

Yes, John. I wanna try as many possible (it's not even the entire collection I have, got more). Some are without heat (for the wife and daughter), the rest are the more bigger ones. Just as you I'm really excited about the Coyote Zan White, although sprouting after 3 days have me doubting if it's really true or Chinense at all. Time will tell as soon real leafs show. I love those pure white peppers!

Great start. Thats great germination rates.

Thanks, Pia. Can't complain indeed, hopefully the Scotch Bonnet's will follow soon :)

Thank you, Rick! Although time is precious I wanna share my growing, trying all those Jalapeno's and Scotch Bonnet's. Looking forward to the summer already ;)

Happy growing very nice they start to pop up for you. :halo:

Thanks, Vladan! Hope they keep popping like that ;) although I expect a couple won't due being old seedstock.

That is good germination for one week. Mine were more stubborn. Look forward to seeing your peppers
progress this season.

It's the first time it's this good over here also, Linda. Last year I had this percentage after almost 4 weeks. Thanks again for the Jalapeño Craig’s Grande :)

Nice to see the jalapeno king back at it again. I smell some tasty poppers my brother:)

Jamie, buddy! We're would we be without Jalapeno's huh ;) I'm afraid we'll be eating all day poppers during the summer

Nice large list

Thanks! I love a themed grow, hence the Jals and Scotch Bonnies :D

Looking good Stefan I will be checking on your progress regularly especially the rocotos. Looks like your growing a Toothpick pepper too this year ;)

Today a CGN 22796 decided to sprout, seeds were over 8 years old. I got a bad feeling about the Rocoto de Seda, gonna sow the remaining seeds tomorrow. The toothpick is for the digging in the dirt, impatient as I am, I dig the seeds up to see if something is happening  Today a lot of the Scotch B's are popping. Only 7 varieties in total haven't, which I will try again.

I had no idea there were that many different strains of Jalapeno's! Good luck Stefan.

I had no idea either, Patrick. Until last year when I started to look for more varieties I found a lot, wanna see if there are really differences between the strains. Got about 49 "different" strains now.

Looking at a 82% germination rate now, must say I can't complain! I re-sowed the ones that haven't sprouted at all, I expect the Panca not to sprout at all. So I added 2 new varieties, Biker Flames F2 and CGN 22181 (Yellow Bouquet).

Stefan, enjoy the grow !

Thanks, Greg! Looking forward to plant out my babies in the poly tunnel as well. Can't wait till it's summer ;)

incredibly long list! Good luck on your season

Sorry for the long list  Thanks, kiddc ;)

Amazing Stefan!
I'm curious to see so many Jalapenos and Bonnets growing side-by-side!

Good luck

Me to, Fabrizio :) Did you start you growlog already? Wanna know how those Goat's are doing :D

Stefan,
Those are great germination rates ! Are those 144 cell inserts ?

It was originally 160 cell inserts, but I had to cut some off otherwise I couldn't close the propagator. Now it's 135 cell inserts. It's to bad I only ordered 2 of those trays last year, they are really great and the seedlings root very well in them (downwards).

I'm too lazy for a complete glog :D but i'll post some pics in my THP blog (Datil's Balcony).
Goat's seeds will probably hit the ground this weekend!

Thanks again and happy season!
