    Chiltepin

I planted some seeds last sunday and the first seedlings are coming up a week later.   I didn't use any special treatment of the seeds, just used the molcajete to gently crack the dry pods open and then seeds straight to moist soil.

trade Chiltepín Trade. Wild collected in Texas.

I just made some tacos and put one fresh tepín in each.   When I bite into the intact pepper I get an instant jolt of ripe tepín flavor. Then the sides of my tongue start to feel some heat and the back of my throat. My sinuses start to open up and my eyes tear a bit. Then about 30 seconds later...

Elevation about 450'   In the wild here they grow under nurse trees like Hackberries. If conditions are right they will climb 10' or more. When ripe...

Yellow Scotch Bonnets fro Grand Cayman

The pepper garden got sidetracked when my tray of seedlings got washed out by a big rain. I started over with another 20 or so yellow scotch bonnets but they are only a few weeks old now.    I'll get some pics up once they get some size on them.    I googled the trenton famers market and they do...

    MoA Jamaican scotch bonnets....

I can't wait to grow them out... i've been looking for a real scotch bonnet for a few years now. The red scotch bonnets I've grown didn't have the same pungent aroma like these yellow ones. Thanks Jamison, i'm glad to see they look like a scotch bonnet should. I thought those pods I used for...
