    Dyl's first grow

Picked up an el-cheapo HarborFreight dehydrator. Using a dimmer from a previous project and a nice OXO thermometer. Threw it onto a killawatt meter to monitor it. This is my second batch of drying: chocolate habs, fatalii, bhutJs and orange habs. The first batch was nothing but Caribbean reds...

    vendor pepperlover.com

Ordered a mix of seeds from her, they came today and I knew she's a serious pepper lover when I noticed the unopened envelope they came in gave off strong pepper smells!

    Greetings from Sacramento

I've got a question but I want to ask it here as my search-fu is failing and I'm pretty sure it's already been discussed.   Is there any consensus on germinating seeds way ahead of schedule (ie now when the weather's warm) and keeping the plants in small containers (7quarts-ish) until next...

    Dyl's first grow

I know it's late in the season, but I've upgraded my 5gallon bucket to a 12gallon tea brewer

And then this happened. Pods everywhere changing color, looks so beautiful.   But I'm having a problem with sun scalding on the chocolate habs mostly, some others are also hurting. I'm putting up some fabric for shade.

    Dyl's first grow

First mini harvest of the season. Yellow fatalii, the usual tub of jalapenos & fresnos, 3 "tasmanian" hab (still dont know what they are), chocolate habs, bhut jolokias. There was a 3rd BJ but I picked it earlier and ate it :)

There's a Black Phoebe flycatcher that must be nesting nearby, it's always flying around my yard. Since it likes to perch on the tomato cage I put on the fresnos, I get this: Other than washing the peppers extra well, no problem right? Free fertilizer! :)

    Dyl's first grow

Jalapenos doing their thing, I counted at least 30 pods on this plant   I put this guy up on top of the 7' cinderblock wall along my property for nearly 11 hours straight of sunlight, and you can really see how fruited it is   Came home the other day to find the plants very thirsty. With all...

    Dyl's first grow

Update: The day after spacing the plants out, all of the Fresno peppers got hit with sun scalding. None of the other peppers are affected. I picked and composted all the scalded pods, there are plenty more.   That 5cm pod pictured above has now reached 6cm, and it's not the only one:

    Dyl's first grow

(weird merge_too_many_img) I spaced the plants out yesterday, they were getting crowded and starting to compete for sunshine. Alternating rows of 3, patched the dripsys.     More harvested since last time, still only jalapeno & fresno. I just threw the vast majority of these into a jar with...

    Dyl's first grow

The weather has warmed up (hitting 100 once a week now), and it's become... Pods, pods everywhere   "Taz" hab is going nuts.       Looks like some will be ripe very soon:         I believe this one is the fatalii:    Chocolate hab I think:

hum.. just googled the taz hab and compared to what i have labelled as taz hab, absolutely not the same. Now i have no idea what they are. pretty sure I kept the labels sorted out correctly during the whole process.

    Dyl's first grow

Update... I've just been watching it grow, happy I'm doing something right! Feeding it once a week, watering 2 days a week. There are pods growing left and right, some of the plants still have zero pods, not sure what's going on.   Every two.5 weeks, this much of jalapeno and fresno picked. The...

    Dyl's first grow

Just found a huge hornworm chomping away. There were some little round eggs that I didn't identify and left them in case they were beneficial. Big mistake. Now back to killing on sight.   Found a total of 3 hornworms and a large moth! Chased the moth around the yard until it landed under some...

    Dyl's first grow

Hello! This spring marks my first attempt at a serious grow. I've been reading and studying on Caspicums and hoping to grow a large patch of plants. I am actually 4 monthes into the grow, I started back in January. I think I will post a few pictures of the process so far and hopefully each...
