    Fruit characteristics in individual plants

I fully agree that the environmental factors play the largest part in determining the overall characteristics of the end "product".   To clarify, my question would be: How much change in the characteristics of the fruit can be expected from THE SAME PLANT by only changing the environment? As I...

    Fruit characteristics in individual plants

Hey, I hope everyone is having good and warm weather.   How much can the characteristics of the fruits vary on the same plant? Color, I presume, is a constant value not including various pigment or saturation varieties. Also self evident is the difference in shape and size. I've a Trinidad...

    Strawberries - new leaf wilt

Thanks for the answer! Yes, I'm growing it in a pot indoors. It's been there for quite some time already and has picked up 200% since it was in the ground in the middle of july. I don't really have a place to overwinter it but the balcony does get a tad cold. I'll figure that out but it's good...

    Strawberries - new leaf wilt

Hey! A bit out of whack but can anybody help a bit regarding strawberries orat least direct to where I could find help? I've been growing this gal for a couple of months and recently (about two weeks ago) started to notice some brown/wilting new leaves. I wounder if it's something with the...

    container Alternative Kratky containers?

Nice!    I don't have the luxury to use nutrients and perlite but I think I'll opt out with clay pebbles and soil. Will try this ass soon as possible.

    container Alternative Kratky containers?

Brilliant! I do have to say that I feel as dense and as smart as a brick because I thought you meant to put the straws horizontally creating something like a wired mesh. I have the dumb. Hehe!   I know you mentioned the ease of roots passing through but have you any long-term observations like...

    container Alternative Kratky containers?

Sounds promising. Can I ask of you for a sketch or a small section cut to illustrate the taught better? From what I gather, one could cut holes in the bottle neck to pass the straws through for added stability and maybe some added air circulation if one punctures the straw a bit. I don't...

    container Alternative Kratky containers?

Yes, that would fit the bill just fine. Must it be some specific (gardening/growing) rock wool or can I use some from construction materials?

    container Alternative Kratky containers?

Hey! I have been doing the double cup and cup-in-a-jar method for growing peppers for the second year but I've started to dislike cups as the soil retaining canisters. It seems that cut bottles (using the bottle neck as the soil holder) would be neat but I can't figure out how to keep the soil...

    Growing in numbers - Help!

Hello hot heads and pepper experts! Do I have a novice question for you. Some context: This year I've decided to grow all of my seed reservs (30 seeds) which is a huge leap of my previous method - babysitting 3 plants. The question is: What container method to use best to have the least...

    helmet head

Micro-scaring (giving it a little cut) is one option and another is presoaking the seeds in various compounds. I have no experience with either but that's what I've come across. I just plant the slightly deeper to ensure that the shell has room to "get caught" in and sprout them using the paper...

    Sudden withering

Thanks! Will try and hope for the best.

    Sudden withering

Do you mean by giving it limited light or other resources? I'd like to believe it's a matter of water or nutrients because that seems like a variable that could cause spontaneous change. I will be changing the substrate and will see if that helps. Other than that I'm out of options. Sent from...

    Sudden withering

Wouldn't that be a gradual and not spontaneous symptom in that case? Moreover I've grown two other plants to full maturity last year with identical conditions and one of those last year plants is still there and doing fine.
