    Lando's Rocoto pictures

I just purchased the Mexican Rocoto seeds from pepperlover.com. Great pics. How big did your plants get, and how much do you think you will harvest off of one plant? I'm planning my garden layout for next year, and I figured a couple of these next to my Giant Jalapeno plants would do good.

condiment Thanks Salsalady, and everyone else!!!

thanks everyone! some of my sauces turned out to be total shit, but most ended up ok. I've got a huge jump on next year's sauces, and will be able to fine tune my recipes to make about 6 different kinds of sauces. I'm also going to start making BBQ sauce next year as well.

This looks weird for a Chocolate Hab...

I had to pick a bunch before the freeze a couple weeks ago, so it wasn't totally ripe yet. But it appears to have a tail on it, like a Scorpion. I had quite a few of my Habs look similar to this one this year. Anyone else?

condiment Thanks Salsalady, and everyone else!!!

Well, this year I started learning how to make sauces. Last year all I did was dehydrate all my peppers, and occasionally threw some in some salsa, or pickles. I learned a lot from Salsalady, and the others here that post their recipes. I ended up with about 12 different kinds, 8 of which are...

    Do your sauces seperate?

cool, I did add some extra vinegar before the last boiling. I wanted to get an even 6 bottles from it. I thought it might be the capsaicin oil that didn't mix with the sauce.

    Do your sauces seperate?

I made 6 bottles of a Moruga Blend hot sauce, and just noticed the next day, that the sauce had separated, with about an inch of clear liquid at the top. I only used peppers, vinegar, garlic, and salt. I know everything is clean, and ph stable. what could have caused this?

    6 pepper sauce.

i would guess from the amount of ingredients, at least 2 quarts, 4 cups of vinegar is a quart, and you probably have at least 4 more cups of everything else.

harvesting harvest green peppers, or cover my garden?

so, out in my garden, there's about 15 plants left, douglahs, scorpions moruga, chocolate habs, ghosts, etc. with a million green pods, it's supposed to get down to 32 a couple times next week. if I cover the entire area with a tarp at night, do you think I will get them to ripen up some more...

    Tomato puree for hot sauces?

Thanks Salsalady. I made 4 batches of sauce this year. The first one used about 14 Chocolate Habs and I made 4 bottles of it. The second batch used the same amount of peppers but I made 13 bottles with it. The third batch was similar to the second. And the 4th batch I made 12 bottles but used a...

Rabbit Manure versus Dairy Cow Manure

I typically use horse manure in the fall and let it breakdown all winter and spring. There's a horse boarding farm less than a half mile away, and I take 5 gallon buckets there and get it for free. I usually dig from the bottom of the pile too, to get the older stuff. This year a woman I work...

    Tomato puree for hot sauces?

I forgot to add that I added a whole cup of vinegar to the mixture as well, sorry. The sauce turned out really well. I wanted something that other people would like as well. With all my sauces I've been making this year, this last one was the best. I try to stick to the whole cup of vinegar (or...

Out of these choices, which would you grow, or grow again?

browning, I ordered all my seeds from www.pepperlover.com. I had a lot of fun with the Giant Jalapenos last year. Mine grew really well, with huge peppers on all of them. My only regret this year is not making any hot sauces yet, or smoking any peppers yet. I better get on the ball if I want to...
