I did 1 gal pots last year.. Not  good..My plants did not like me it was a battle to the end  with water  one day  under next over..

Yes use minimum of 3 gal pots  when the root-ball out grows the 1 gal.

I left mine in the dome with the heat mat and just added a 18 inch T5 light on a 12/12 light cycle for while. I had the thermostat set to 85. and the vents wide open.

Got some pods coming along real nice as well as some just starting on a 2nd plant. In all Im happy and will be ready for January..
