hmmm, looks like caviar.... Have you been using fish fertiliser?

    breeding ideas for crosses

Proper crossing takes allot of luck, seeds, space and time hope you know that right? Assuming you want to isolate the perfect characteristics from each plant, creating a whole new phenotype, your looking at maybe 3-4 generations each with about 15-20 plants. But I've been thinking about doing...

    Pepper Identification

I grew these out last year. Friend of a friend sold me a plant for 5$ claiming it was some Indian variety... They have very little heat. The whole thing just reminds me of chives for some strange reason. Sent pics to Neil (THSC) he had no idea what these bastards are... Hope you figure out what...

    seeds Are drying seeds necessary

Hmmm I heard that drying was necessary to activate some sort of metabolic process. Someone else told me it's as simple as ''wet'' seeds rotting much faster... If no-one has allot of experience between the two, it might be interesting to split my seeds supply in two and test the difference...

    seeds Are drying seeds necessary

I hate starting threads but I couldn't find the answer using the search bar... You'd think SOMEONE would've wondered about this... Anyways.. I was wondering if drying fresh of the pepper seeds are necessary. I've always done it that way, allowing two weeks or some to make sure they're bone dry...

    soil soil sterilization idea?

Not sure about potting soil, haven't heard of anyone trying to re-use it... that stuff is dirt cheap  Bad puns aside, I know that in mycology, we often heat the substrate using a pressure cooker. 90 minutes @15 psi kills almost every bacteria, virus and endo-spore known to man.... That...

    seeds Need seed recommendations

Yeah... I've actually been putting them in under some shelter to prevent them from drowning, but I imagine the 100% humidity doesn't help either... Been thinking of starting them out indoors. At-least until they're almost ready to fruit/when the weather gets better. Any one have experience...

    seeds Need seed recommendations

Yeah, I made sure there were plenty... Little wearing to plant them in the ground ATM because of pests and rain. It's been raining 2-3 times a week for the past month or so. Didn't think the plants would survive that. Can someone post me those grow links? Having a little difficulty finding them.

    seeds Need seed recommendations

Ill look into my soil. I'm using a mixture of miracle grow seedling starter mix and homemade organic compost. I'm pretty sure it's beaming with nutrients :) They're in containers atm. The container is a 2l pop bottle thing. There should be plenty of room for root development. Will have to check...

    seeds Need seed recommendations

This is my third attempt at growing chillies. First time, I tried growing a couple of red hot cherries. They stopped growing after 1 months worth of growth and died... Then, I grew some red, orange and chocolate habs, only to have half of them turn yellow and die, and the other half massacred by...

    dried Dried vs Fresh Question

Thank-you for sharing that vid. Made me smile. As for the hot vs dried, in my albeit limited experience, a whole fresh pepper is usually hotter than a dried pepper. I guess it all depends on how the pepper was dried. Some people I know throw them in a hot oven and wonder why they lose potency...

    chinense Orange Habaneros

Not sure too much about the states, but most grocery stores here carry 'em in the produce isle. Usually if you don't find them in a big refrigerated bin, you find them pre-packaged. You can buy 20 of them for 1$. Then again, the only ever carry orange and the occasional reds. Might also want...

food What was the last spicy meal you cooked?

Damn all of you posting pictures of food.... you're making me hungry! Last spicy meal I had was a orange and yellow habenaro ''sauce'' I allowed to marinee my bacon. Did not turn out as good as I anticipated surprisingly. Soo, if any-one has any good spicy bacon recepies, please do share :)

    Howdy- from Canadialand!

Howdy, my name is juice but everyone calls me jewbear (don't ask). I've been a huge hot pepper fan for about four years now, starting with red hot cherries and moving my way up to Trinidad scorpion. Love the burn, love the after calm, love the taste. Plus, it warms you the hell up on a cold...

    vendor Ordering Pepper Seeds

Only bought my seeds from the hippy seed co. Great source! A little more expensive than some of the ebay deals you can get, but at-least you know the source, the quality is great and the owner (Neil) is a great guy! Huray, first post! :P I wonder how many of these replies are people...
