    Pawpaw Trees and fruit.

Ah, yeah, around here the fruit starts ripening in September on into October. I harvested from half a dozen or so patches last year and the flavor can vary a lot from patch to patch. Cultivars provide a more consistently good flavor, but if you can't find any commercial orchardists in your...

    Sawyer 2019

Hah, yeah, triple post = too much coffee? I've got a few years' head start on you learning about this stuff and the only thing I know for certain is that there's more I don't know than I do. Lately, I've been trying to learn about native grasses. Wish me luck. Planted 6 plants in ground...

Yeah, that's pretty suspicious. Have you gone out at night with a flashlight to see what you can find?

    Sawyer 2019

Not clogging, Paul, just glogging. Thanks for your response. I've seen both described by two or three different species names. Since both are being grown in the same community garden, hopefully I can watch them grow. I wonder how many it takes to make a kilogram. Multiple sites (all...

    BrandonB's 2019 glog!!

Looking good. What's in that wood pile back there that has the dog's attention?

I ask because it almost seems like some sort of structural damage rather than insect damage. As in the plant grows so fast the leaf tissue tears, then the tear propagates as the leaf grows larger. Just spitballing here. I've never seen insect damage like that.

    Commercial Kitchen

Somewhere I mentioned a vacuum kettle for accelerated reduction of liquids. Here are a couple of pictures of it: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=10FIUju4u2UIkpgTIE_3vVRDvYf39UEmy For scale, that's a regular sized door on the left side of the images. I could significantly reduce the...

    Sawyer 2019

Was 42°F this morning, but I think that's the last of the cool weather for the season... finally. For the foreseeable future, the lows are predicted to be in the 50s and 60s with highs in the mid 70s to lower 80s. I think the last few nights in the 40s and a lot of cold rain were the nails in...

Mattys first ever Glog "Into the fire" 2019 season

"Liking" that for the garden beds ready. It's been a slow spring here, too. Normally our highs here this time of year are in the mid to upper 70s and lows in 50s. The high yesterday was 59°F and the low tomorrow morning is predicted to be 43°F. That might seem like a heatwave to you up North...

    stc's comeback down south grow...

Speaking of brickwork, the first picture in your most recent post had me momentarily confused about which glog I was in. I thought at first (for about a nanosecond) I was in my own; that's how similar that bit of brick is to my house. Then I registered the plant; none of my plants have that...

    Sawyer 2019

Took a bunch of 8' bamboo poles to a friend at her community garden plot yesterday. Helped her make a trellis out of them, not perfect but functional. Didn't think to take a picture; will try to remember next time I'm over there.   Gardener friend is growing a wild Brazil(ian) pepper. Another...
