      I have no ideas actually, sorry. It could be that there were other ingredients in the spray as PMD mentioned above. I use pure neem oil that I mix 1 teaspoon per liter (quart) of water, and I have never experienced anything like you described.

    They are not known to kill ladie bugs. Neem is meant as a repellent for hard bodied insects, and a killer for soft bodied insects like aphids.

    Neem + water I hope?   I used a Neem and Castile soap spray last year fairly regularly and had no issues, but I also dilute mine quite a bit. If you let the neem spray dry out first, then it shouldn't affect the ladybugs at all I would think.

    questions about growing

    You'd be surprised how resilient they are when it comes to separating them. They might flop over for a day or two, but usually will perk right back up after the initial shock.   If truly worried, the best method for separation is probably soaking the rootball int water until the dirt falls away...

    here's an example. this was from a 1 gallon. first pic was right after sliding off the grow bag, second is after shake out all the dirt (though a lot of roots also came out with it). pics really don't do it justice though.
