OK it's september and another update. I found a single thrip when harvesting a habanero. Annoyed squash later, and I spotted about five mites too. Seriously, I haven't treated since what, June? So they've managed to hang around keeping the thrip population down for all this time? I'm impressed. ...

I thought my plants were massive, yours are immense! If you pinch/prune off the top where it hits the ceiling it might help things along too. On the plus side, when that bhut does flower, you're going to get a massive harvest because it's so big.

Please also report back on this thread if you do go with mites, would be good to see the results of others!

this is normal - looks like you have some fruit set already. My thoughts on this are that the plant has an idea how many fruits it can sustain both by weight of branches and nutrients, and once that many have set, it aborts the rest.  I always assumed you can increase this by balancing nutrients...

my window sill plants are doing better than my greenhouse ones - I have a bhut with 20 pods and counting already. You might not get perfect results or results as good as some who are able to put them outside - but does it matter? Probably not.    Growing indoors is a real pain for bugs though...

I have a couple that have done exactly this. In my case there's no reason, I think it is just...one of those things.

I prefer watering from the top personally but unfortunately if you get fungus gnats you're best doing it from the bottom. Your plants look good so I dont think you need to worry!

I don't think it's going to be majorly bad, I mean, depending on the conditions it's in I wouldn't necessarily advise using it in any kind of aerosol manner (legionnaires if it's been warm for example), but the question that arises really is...well, why? I just use the stuff out of the tap...

thrips aren't the worst pest out there as long as you monitor it, if you let them build out of control then you'll have problems, so yeah you're doing the right thing, keep an eye under the leaves for the babies, small yellow wormy looking things usually.    I found amblyseius to work very well...

that is almost certainly thrips damage.
