Cucumbers rotting and falling off vinec

No, I'm not sure, but what you described is what it looks like. I now have some that have grown to 4-5 inches so far. Would hand pollination help the others? How do you tell the difference between male and female?

    wanted WTB Superhot plants

Cross Country Nursery (chileplants.com) has several hundred varieties of chiles and I order from them every year for the past 8 years.  They are awesome.  They are out of New Jersey, but ship every where. They usually ship my plants on a Monday and I have them Wednesday.  I'm in South Carolina...

Cucumbers rotting and falling off vinec

No yellowing leaves. The plant looks very healthy actually. I'll try adding lime and egg shells to the soil since you say it could be calcium. Thanks!

    Raccoon Problem - Need Suggestions

I have the same problem with squirrels. I use cayenne pepper and it works. It will not harm your plants. The only thing I hate is when you water or when it rains, you have to reapply. Good luck!

    Super Hots flowering already???

Ok. I may try pinching. But it would be cool if these babies produced all season long. Thanks! Ikeepfish, some if those are super hots-definitely the bhuts. You're zone 7a and I'm 7b. I'm wondering if the crazy weather we had has anything to do with it. I'm interested to see if they will...

New member, looking for tips on growing hot peppers

I'm an organic container gardener and when I plant, I put a fish head in the bottom of the hole and put the plant on top. I buy fresh fish or go fishing and keep the heads. Fish markets will also give heads to you. I fertize throughout the season with fish and kelp fertizer. As for slugs, the...

    Super Hots flowering already???

Thanks geeme. I've had mine from CCN for over a month now. I wish I could post a pic, but can't seem to be able to figure it out from my phone. They are a decent size-- about a 1.5 - 2 feet tall. My Scotch Bonnet has peppers on it. The thing is, my other plants are doing the same thing. I've had...

    Super Hots flowering already???

Ok. I feel better since a fellow Carolinian is having the same issue. It may not be an issue at all. Like Dash 2 said, they may pod up all season long! They weren't root bound when I got them and I promptly planted them in big pots. This season has been a little strange so far. I had tomatoes...

    Super Hots flowering already???

Has anyone's Super Hots flowered this early in the growing season? I ordered these from Cross Country Nurseries as I have for years. The ones flowering now are the 7 Pot Douglah and Trinidad Scorpion. I'm in South Carolina, US. I know the weather has been crazy here. We can wear flip flops and...

    Sky High Tomato Prices

Are you referring to Cross Creek Nursery? I ordered some tomato plants from them a couple of years ago because they have such a large variety and I wanted to make different color tomato salsas. They don't travel as well as the peppers. For the most part, they did well, but I had a couple that...

    Plant in pots or beds?

Welcome! I grow in pots out of necessity as I live in an apartment and have no yard. There are some advantages to growing in pots such as the ability to move them inside in case of inclimate weather, overwintering, and not having to weed the garden. IMO, you can control your soil better...

    quick question.

For extra nitrogen for growth, I use fish and seaweed emulsion. It is 90 percent fish which is the nitrogen part. It works well. You can get just fish emulsion without the seaweed as well. Also, when I plant, I put a fish head in the bottom of the hole. Nitrogen, nitrogen, nitrogen... I...

    seeds Matt's 2010 Garden list/seedlings

I grow Peter peppers and have been impressed. I usually get the transplants from Cross Country and forgot this year. I had saved and dried some seeds. So I planted 6 last month and 2 have come up. This is a picture of mine from last year. They are shaped right. Maybe they only do right for...
