With roots coming out of the drainage hole I would have to venture a guess that it's root bound quite badly. Try replanting it in a larger pot and breaking up the roots a bit when you do. Also I have to agree with PHB bring the temp down 4-5 degrees mine never get above 27C indoors.

Looks like an underdeveloped pod to me. You should be fine eating it the seeds just didn't develop quite right which isn't unheard of for the first couple small/oddly shaped pods that sprout in my experience.

I've had quite a few this year myself. Out of nearly 200 plants around 15-20 of them had 3 and to be honest 3 of those are the largest plants from their respective strains, So I would have to say it makes no difference and was just a spot of bad luck that you lost them.

You should be fine. I want to say a good 90% of seed starting mixes are peat based anyway. I personally use a 60% peat based starter and have had 0 problems starting seeds. As for it being to late, nahh you should be able to get at least one good harvest off your plants before it gets cold...

Just got my powders today and did the most intelligent thing I could possibly do. Opened them up to take a whiff. The smoked mix smelled heavily of dried peppers with just the right hint of smokeyness. While on the other hand the choc mix smelled like burning as the powder decided assault me...
