Saved seeds may well be cross pollinated. Banana peppers are pretty readilly available here, I only save seeds from rare varieties, and with the knowledge that something else may sprout from them.

We bought plants at Lowe's, I am not sure of the variety. I know Gherkins are the usual variety mentioned by Alton Brown and others. Ours from Lowe's produced TONS. The pickles were great.

Nothing wrong with that! I fry my own shells though........They don't break, and SOOOOOO tasty.
