    Well composted manure?

    i used to add lots and lots of compost in my mix and now i do more of a 2/3 coir or potting soil then 1/3 compost. it seems to level it out. and about a handful or two of bat guano for good measure.

    grasshoppers. i used to not mind them. but then they don't get to stay here in my garden. there used to be a lot of them before i started growing vegetables.

    i don't really worry about acidity so long as i know what's in it and so long as i get the ratios of my dirt mix right. =D

    i try to do that unless my plants are starting to get real bad looking and then i intervene.

    that's fungus. not sure if it's beneficial or otherwise. my chicken manure and coffee grounds get that. i think it happens when your compost is slightly on the acidic side. and of course lots of moisture.

    OK, this is new...

    my plants used to get it a lot. back when i grew in pots. then i started growing in regular old soil on the ground. they loved and outgrew the problem. they fought it off and grew a lot better. that'll stunt them a for like 3 months or so if you don't fix it. and then they die from exhaustion...

    i've read a tree's seed could grow in a person's lung by just inhaling it and it'll take root. scary stuff. i hope i don't breathe in any weed seeds when i mow down the grass. lol.

    My problem with my plants when they do get pretty productive, the pods ripen earlier and i end up with smaller pods.

    pests anyone use praying mantis to fight aphids?

    Wouldn't mind having praying mantis bugs guarding my plants. I do spot the odd dragonfly here and there in my garden. I dont see ladybugs around lately. I want more ladies in the garden. =( lol
