Too late to start in S GA?

When is your last frost date, if you even have one? Also depends what kind of peppers you want to grow. Annums tend to mature faster than Chineses if you are pressed for time. Superhots take upwards of 120 days to get fruit from seed.

I planted my chocolate Habs around this time last year, overwintered them, and just started getting fruit 3 weeks ago. Basically you are SOL for this season. But, if you veg them for the rest of your season, and overwinter as I did, you will have a wicked head start next year and you should get...

    Has anyone used Air Pots?

More air exposure to the roots equals better air pruning effects. Now if they would only drop the price, I'd be sold. I bought 7gal geopots this season for the same price as 2 gal smart pots last season. Let's hope more people adopt this technology and drive prices down.

Seeds sold as Scotch Bonnets, but are they?!

Looks similar to the red scotch bonnets I grow. I too find the pod shape and size to vary quite a bit. Not all scotch bonnets have the tam o shantern shape that you see in web pictures. Infact, I'd say most are shaped as yours are. The main identifier for me is taste. Do they taste like...

Why do cayennes not look intimidating?

I just ate my first ripe yellow cayenne, I too was fooled by the gentle exterior. turned out to pack quite a punch. I'm sure you will develop a healthy respect for them once you eat a ripe one.

    Propane safety question

You can just cut the tubing then plug it with a suitable brass plug. Secure the plug with 2 gear clamps and you are good to go. I've put together a few BBQs that have had brass plugs in the tubing, presumably to add a side burner etc. As long as you are plugging the line downstream of the...

Cayenne's Guide to Vermicompost a.k.a. WORMS!!!

I used to do a lot of DWC several years ago, and I found that no matter what brand of air stone I bought, they would all crap out after a few weeks. I ended up just buying 25 of the cheapest one I could find off eBay and replacing the as they failed. I tried the fancy large air stones, the...

    Fruit flies and pepper plants

A small dish full of apple cider vinegar will attract fruit flies and they then drown in said dish. I spent $20 last year on a fancy fruit fly trap only to find that's all it essentially was, live and learn
