    Repotting while flowers are forming.

I've broken up the root mass and not lost an excessive amount of flowers. I now transplant with the soil damp in order to minimize stress to the plant, seems to work for me

Cayenne's Guide to Vermicompost a.k.a. WORMS!!!

I have a question, I'm pretty interested in trying some worm tea out, but I have been feeding with inorganic ferts for a few months now. If I was trying to get a nice little Eco system started in my pots, would the residual inorganic chemicals screw things up? I would think it would kill off the...

    raising peppers in pots

I'd look at getting your plants into better soil. The sticky at the top of this forum is a good place to start reading. Plain black dirt is just that, plain. Peppers like well draining soil. chances are that if you are using topsoil you are drowning your roots.

    Not So "Golden" Cayenne

Hey at least it tastes good! If you still want to try golden cayenne, I have some green pods rite now, I can hook you up with some seeds once they ripen. That is of course if they turn out to be yellows!

More than 3 months old and only 4- 6''

This same thing happens to me from time to time. I think it really comes down to trying to grow peppers in a climate they are non-native to. I'm too stubborn to let the stunted plants die, so i just keep them watered and bring them inside for the winter. You can't change your climate but you can...

    smoking Smokin manzanos

I never thought of smoking frozen pods. I would have thought the pods would turn to mush and fall through the racks, obviously not the case. Nice setup!

media Jiffy Pellets vs Potting Soil

I find pellets dry out too quick. If you leave them dry for only a few hours your seeds are toast. I use promix in plastic cells and have had pretty decent results

    "Mustard Habanero"

By hearty do you mean more heat/pest resistant? Or just an overall easy to grow plant? The pods are beautiful, when I saw the first two on the left I thought they were roses! How is the yield look on those beauties? Sorry for all the questions, but i likes what i sees.

All purpose miracle gro, ever use it?

The more I've read about fertilizer, the more I've realized that pretty much all inorganic fertilizer components come from the same chemical factories. The ratios and blends vary by the company, but the basis is the same. The only difference is that Miracle grow(Monsanto) buys 300 rail cars...

    Holy Moruga

These things made me never eat a whole superhots again. The heat was so intense it felt like my ears were bleeding. Never again!

Your opinion on this Potting Mix

sounds like too much nitrogen and that manure might still be too hot after 40 days and might burn young plants. Manure is great if you add it in the fall and let it decompose for a few months before planting, 40 days sounds too soon.

    Canadian Hot Pepper Growers

I just cut them in half and leave the peppers on the counter for a couple days to dry out. There is next to no humidity out here. if its humid where you are, try drying them in a dehydrator at the lowest heat setting to dry them out and save the seed.

    A Huge Thx to Everyone

Good for you! Glad to see you are having some success. Good luck on the superhots, they tend to be a bit difficult to get going, but once you get them established, it's smooth sailing.

soil Geopot/Fabric Pot (watering and soil question)

+1 to bottom watering I use promix HP in geopots, I find that for the first watering I have to both bottom and top water in order for the soil to get thoroughly wet, since the dry peat repels water. As soon as it get a little moist from the top watering it wicks up the bottom water. I keep...

    Postal Irregularities

I always use bubble envelopes, and I always just take them to the post office because I always seem to lose booklets of stamps. As soon as I hand over my envelope to the lady she tosses it in the non machinable bin and all is well. The first few times I think they thought I was crazy because the...
